April saw another successful beer festival, at Kent Hills. May
we take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors and all those who
attended throughout the week, for a full list of sponsors please click
the link below.
As we said, 20p from every pint of beer sold would go to charity.
The £500 raised went to Margaret Barker, to help pay for much needed
cancer treatment.
On the cricket front, things have picked up after an ordinary
start. The new professional, Juan Theron, arrived for
the third match of the season. For the first match we
eventually managed to get a stand in pro but despite the best
efforts of the secretary we failed to produce one for the Stafford
fixture. The next games against Barlaston, Wood Lane and
Porthil were
much better, all producing excellent victories. The second
team have experienced mixed fortunes, with the highlight so far
being a victory over Wood Lane where Dad's Army stalwarts Captain
Mainwaring and Corporal Jones (played by Titley and Hammersley) both
scored half centuries. During the 1st X game at Wood Lane we
would occasionally hear the score from Kent Hills - at one point it
was announced that Titley is 57. To which the reply from the
crowd was, "We know how old he is, how many has he got?"
